24일 포천시에 따르면, 시는 지난 23일 파인브이티 로보틱스 연구소(FineVT Robotics LAB)와 양자기술 실증 및 기술 컨설팅 협력을 골자로 하는 핵심 업무협약(MOU)을 체결하고 첨단 국방 정보통신 분야의 상호 협력 체계를 구축했다.
이번 협약의 최우선 과제는 대한민국 국방의 미래로 꼽히는 ‘유무인복합체계(MUM-T)’에 적용될 양자기술 분야의 공동 연구 및 협력이다. 양 기관은 심도 있는 양자기술 실증과 컨설팅을 통해 국방 무인체계의 고도화를 이끌어내는 한편, 관련 산업의 생태계 조성과 양질의 일자리 창출 등 지역경제 활성화까지 두 마리 토끼를 잡겠다는 포부다.

특히 포천시는 다가오는 무인체계 및 실물 인공지능(AI) 중심의 국방 환경 변화에 선제적으로 대응하고자 양자기술을 지역 전략 산업으로 점찍었다. 이를 위해 산·학·연 협력 네트워크를 탄탄히 다지고, 수출을 주도할 수 있는 국방 소부장(소재·부품·장비) 산업을 집중 육성해 명실상부한 방위산업 핵심 거점으로 발돋움할 계획이다.
이번에 포천시와 손을 잡은 파인브이티 로보틱스 연구소는 무인항공(UAV) 드론 제조는 물론 도심항공교통(UAM), 제조실행시스템(MES), 인공지능(AI) 비전 검사장비 개발 등 다방면에서 첨단 기술력을 입증한 연구기관이다. 유무인복합체계에 적용 가능한 양자기술 실증 역량을 두루 갖추고 있어 최적의 파트너로 평가받는다.
오세진 연구소장은 “포천시와의 긴밀한 협력을 바탕으로 실제 국방 현장에 적용 가능한 양자기술 실증 연구를 가속화할 수 있게 됐다”며, “연구소가 보유한 딥테크 역량을 십분 발휘해 첨단 방산업 발전과 지역 상생에 이바지하겠다”고 의지를 다졌다.
