<브레이크뉴스 강원 = 김일웅 기자> 최근 국가기관 공무원을 사칭해 허위 공문을 보내고 물품 대금을 가로채려는 보이스피싱 성격의 사기 범죄가 기승을 부리고 있어 지역 업체들의 각별한 주의가 요구된다.
25일 북부지방산림청에 따르면, 지난 24일 오후 2시경 산림청 직원을 가장한 신원 미상의 인물이 관내 한 판매업체에 전화를 걸어 소화기 납품을 빌미로 금전을 요구하는 사건이 발생했다.
사칭범은 "개당 250만 원 상당의 소화기를 특정 일반 법인을 통해 180만 원에 저렴하게 구매할 수 있다"며, "차액 70만 원은 업체가 이윤으로 챙기고 소화기만 산림청에 납품하면 된다"는 솔깃한 제안으로 즉각적인 선입금을 유도했다.
특히 이들은 실제 국가기관의 발주처럼 보이기 위해 '허위 결제 확약서'까지 정교하게 위조해 전달하는 등 범행 수법의 치밀함을 보였다. 다행히 해당 업체가 입금 직전 수상함을 느끼고 사기임을 빠르게 인지해 실제 금전적 피해로 이어지지는 않은 것으로 확인됐다.
송준호 북부지방산림청장은 “국가기관은 어떠한 경우에도 계약이나 물품 납품을 이유로 업체에 선입금을 요구하지 않는다”고 단호히 선을 그으며, “공무원을 사칭해 계약을 요구하는 의심스러운 전화를 받을 경우, 반드시 해당 기관의 대표번호로 직접 전화해 사실 여부를 확인하고 즉시 경찰에 신고해 달라”고 거듭 당부했다.
한편, 북부지방산림청은 이 같은 유사 피해가 지역 사회에 확산하지 않도록 관내 업체 및 유관 기관에 범죄 수법을 신속히 전파하고, 추가 피해 예방을 위한 홍보 활동을 대폭 강화할 방침이다.
