역사의 교훈은 늘 뒤늦게 찾아온다. 북한의 김일성 주석은 해방 직후 '땅을 공짜로 나눠준다'는 달콤한 말로 농민들을 눈속임했다. 지주의 땅을 총칼로 뺏어 공짜로 나눠준다는 김일성의 외침에 농민들은 만세를 불렀지만, 그것은 거대한 덫이었다. 땅을 공짜로 받은 줄 알았던 농민들에게 국가는 곧 본색을 드러냈다. 처음에는 수확량의 일부를 세금으로 가져가더니, 나중에는 그 비율을 50%, 60%까지 끌어올렸다. 일제강점기 소작농 시절 지주에게 바치던 도지 50%보다 더 많은 양을 공산당이 '세금'이라는 이름으로 뺏어간 것이다.

결국 국가는 세상에서 가장 힘센 '초(超) 거대 지주'가 되고, 농민들은 제 땅 한 평 소유하지 못한 채 국가를 위해 일하는, 동학농민들이나 일제 강점기 소작농보다 못한 비참한 초소작농으로 전락하고 말았다. 여기서 끝이 아니다. 국가가 세금을 60%나 뜯어가니 농민들은 일할 의욕을 잃고 굶주림에 허덕였다. 그러자 북한 정권은 아예 농민들에게 나눠준 땅을 통째로 뺏어 집단농장으로 체제를 바꿨다. 내 땅에서 내 농사를 짓던 사람들을 국가의 거대한 농장 안에 가두고 배급이나 기다리게 만든 것이다. 개인의 자유와 자산이 사라진 자리에 남은 것은 평등한 빈곤, 고통의 평등 뿐이었다.
이러한 수탈의 역사가 오늘날 대한민국 주택 시장에서 그대로 되풀이되고 있다. 문재인 정부 집권 5년 동안 다주택자에 대한 양도소득세율은 최고 75%까지 치솟았다. 실제로 문재인 정부 5년 동안 국가가 양도세로만 뜯어간 돈이 무려 110조 원에 달한다. 취득세와 재산세까지 합치면 국가가 주택 시장에서 빨아들인 돈은 양심과 상식과 상상을 초월한다. 국가가 시장에서 100조 원을 강제로 뺏어가니, 집값은 그 비용만큼 더 오를 수밖에 없었다. 그 난리가 문재인 정권 내내 일어났다.
그런데 이재명 정부는 한술 더 뜨고 있다. 문재인 정부가 5년 동안 110조 원을 뜯어갔다면, 이재명 정부는 '국토보유세'라는 명목 하나만으로도 집권 5년 동안 최소 150조 원 이상을 더 걷어가려 든다. 여기에 양도세 최고세율을 82.5%까지 끌어올리겠다는, 자유민주 국가에서는 듣도 보도 못한, 사회주의 국가에서나 가끔 있던 세금 폭탄까지 준비하고 있다. 국민은 그야말로 숨만 쉬어도 국가에 월세를 내거나 높은 세금을 내야 하는 '현대판 월세 소작농' '현대판 아파트 소작농'으로 굴러 떨어질 판이다.

여기서 우리는 이재명 정부의 진짜 속내를 의심하지 않을 수 없다. 집값을 잡겠다며 세금 폭탄을 퍼붓고 내 집 마련의 사다리를 걷어차는 최종 목표가 무엇인가? 결국 전 국민을, 아파트 가진 높은 세금 자동납부기가 되거나, 집 없으면 국가가 지은 공공 임대주택에 몰아넣고, 평생 국가에 월세를 바치며 살게 하려는 것이 아닌가? 국민 개개인이 자산을 가져 힘을 키우는 꼴을 못 보고, 모든 국민을 국가라는 거대 지주 밑에서 배급과 임대 주택에 목매는 '주거 노예'로 길들이려는 것이 아닌가? 이것이 바로 북한이 실패했던 집단농장의 주택판이 아니고 무엇이란 말인가.
이 무도한 수탈의 규모를 보라. 세계 시장에서 피땀 흘려 싸우는 삼성전자, 현대차, 하이닉스 등 우리나라 5대 대기업이 1년 동안 내는 법인세를 몽땅 합쳐도 25조 원 남짓이다. 그런데 국가는 국민의 보금자리를 털어 국토보유세라는 명목으로만 매년 30조 원이 넘는 돈을 강탈하려 한다. 대한민국 대표 기업 수십 개가 벌어들이는 이익보다 더 많은 피눈물을 부자들에게는 보유세와 양도세로, 서민들에게는 치솟는 월세로 짜내겠다는 소리다. 더욱 기막힌 사실은 대통령의 참모들이다. 국민에게는 집을 팔라고 협박하고 임대주택에 살라고 등 떠밀면서, 정작 청와대 참모 10명 중 4명은 여전히 다주택자로서 자산 가치를 누리고 있다.
대체 국민에게서 이렇게 쉽게 엄청난 세금을 뜯어내어 무엇을 어쩌려는 것인가. 나랏돈을 제 주머니 쌈짓돈처럼 쓰며 생색내기식 기본소득과 배급으로 표를 사려는 것은 아닌지 매우 우려스럽다.
국가가 시장을 장악하고 국민의 재산을 몰수하는 사회주의 방식은 결국 우리를 아르헨티나나 베네수엘라, 북한, 쿠바 같은 몰락의 길로 이끌 뿐이다. 이재명 대통령은, 우리가 땀 흘려 얻은 소중한 집을 국가가 제멋대로 주무르는 이 행태를 당장 멈추어야 한다. 그렇지 않으면 대한민국 국민은 내 집 마련의 꿈을 잃고, 국가라는 거대 지주에게 월세나 높은 세금을 바치며 사는 '국가 소작농의 나라'에서 살게 될 것이다.

While they threaten citizens to sell their homes and pressure them to live in rental housing, four out of ten Blue House aides still own multiple homes, enjoying the value of their assets.
What exactly are they trying to achieve by so easily extorting such enormous taxes from the people? It's deeply concerning that they're using public funds as if they were their own pocketbooks, using ostentatious basic income and rationing to buy votes.
The socialist approach, where the state dominates the market and confiscates the people's property, will ultimately lead us down the path to ruin like Argentina, Venezuela, North Korea, and Cuba.
