[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 통영시는 국내 최초 멍게위판장을 준공했다.
지난 26일 통영시 산양읍 영운리 영운항에서 ‘멍게수하식수협 수산물 위판장 건립 준공식’을 개최했다.
이번 멍게위판장 건립은 2021년 수산물 위판장 건립사업에 선정된 이후 총사업비 19억원이 투입됐다.
지상 1층 연면적 664.52㎡ 규모로 건립된 위판장은 작업장, 경매장, 선별, 회의실 등 다양한 시설을 갖추고 있다.
이날 준공식에 이어 초매식이 함께 열려 새로 문을 연 위판장에서 통영산 멍게가 첫 경매에 부쳐졌다.
초매식은 위판장 운영의 시작을 알리는 상징적 행사로 현장에는 출하 어업인과 유통 관계자들이 모여 활기찬 경매 분위기를 이뤘다.
김태형 조합장은 “멍게 업계의 숙원사업이었던 수산물 위판장 건립을 위해 물심양면으로 지원해 준 통영시에 감사드린다”며 “이번 인재육성 기탁이 지역 인재들이 꿈을 키우고 다시 지역으로 성장해 돌아오는 선순환의 출발점이 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.
천영기 통영시장은 “이번 위판장 준공은 멍게산업의 발전과 지역경제 활성화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대한다”며“어려운 여건 속에서도 지역 인재 육성을 위해 뜻을 모아주신 멍게수하식수협에 깊이 감사드린다”고 감사의 뜻을 전했다.
한편 멍게수하식수협은 1994년 멍게양식 어업인들이 모여 설립된 업종별 수협으로 370여명 조합원으로 구성돼 있으며 멍게유통 및 가공판매, 수산물 직매장 운영, 금융업무 등을 추진해 멍게수하식 양식 어업인들의 지위향상과 지역수산경제 발전을 위해 노력하고 있다.
