브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 미국과 이스라엘의 이란 공습 이후 중동 정세 불안이 커지면서 국내 유류 가격이 벌써부터 급등 조짐을 보이고 있다.
지난달 28일 미국과 이스라엘이 이란을 공습한 이후 원유 수급 차질에 대한 우려가 확산하고 있다. 특히 이란 이슬람혁명수비대(IRGC)가 세계 주요 원유 수송로인 호르무즈 해협 봉쇄 가능성을 시사하면서 국제유가 상승 압력이 커진 상황이다.
다만 실제로 공급 차질이 발생한 것은 아닌 만큼 국내 주유소 가격 상승은 지나치게 빠르다는 지적이 제기된다.
5일 한국석유공사 유가정보시스템 오피넷에 따르면 미국 공습 직전인 2월 4주 전국 휘발유 평균 가격은 리터당 1691.3원, 경유는 1594.1원이었다. 그러나 전날 기준으로 휘발유 가격은 1777.48원으로 약 5.1% 상승했고, 경유 역시 1728.77원으로 약 8.45% 오르며 상승세가 이어지고 있다.
정부도 이러한 가격 급등 움직임에 대해 강경 대응 방침을 밝혔다.

이재명 대통령은 5일 청와대에서 열린 제8회 임시 국무회의에서 "어려운 시장 환경을 악용해 매점매석이나 불합리한 폭리를 취하려는 시도를 강력하게 단속하고 단호히 대응할 필요가 있다"고 말했다.
이 대통령은 "아직 객관적으로 심각한 유류 공급 차질이 발생한 상황도 아닌데 주유소 휘발유 가격이 폭등했다는 얘기가 나온다"며 "아침·점심·저녁 가격이 다르다는 말까지 있고, 일부 주유소는 리터당 200원 가까이 올린 사례도 있다고 한다"고 지적했다.
이어 구체적인 대응 방안 마련을 주문하며 "지금은 예외적 상황이므로 지역별·유종별 현실적인 최고가격을 신속히 지정하도록 하라"고 지시했다. 그러면서 "손해를 보게 할 일은 아니지만 부당한 이익을 취하지 않도록 해야 한다"고 강조했다.
이 대통령은 또 "유류 바가지 요금은 현재 단속이 쉽지 않은 것 같은데 제도 자체를 신속히 점검해 보완하라"고 덧붙였다.
이에 대해 구윤철 부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관은 "오늘 오후 유류 가격을 점검한 뒤 가격이 과도하게 높다고 판단될 경우 고시를 통해 최고가격을 지정하는 방안까지 검토하겠다"고 보고했다.
또 "공정거래위원회가 가격이 높은 주유소를 대상으로 담합 여부 조사에 나설 예정"이라며 "물가안정법에 따라 매점매석이 확인될 경우 시정 조치와 형사 처벌까지 가능하다"고 밝혔다.
구 부총리는 "가용 가능한 모든 행정 조치를 동원해 위기 상황을 이용해 부당한 이익을 취하는 행위에 대해 철저히 대응하겠다"고 강조했다.
