브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT는 한국형 AI 네트워크 협력체 ‘AINA ’(AI Network Alliance)의 첫 대표 의장사로 활동한다고 5일 밝혔다. AINA는 AI 네트워크 구축 및 산업 생태계 육성을 목표를 위해 국내 산학연 기관 위주로 구성된 협력체다.
출범식은 스페인 바르셀로나에서 진행되고 있는 세계 최대 모바일 전시회 ‘MWC26’ 내 KT 전시관에서 진행됐으며, 과기정통부 정보보호네트워크 최우혁 정책실장과 AINA 대표의장인 KT 서창석 네트워크부문장, AI‑RAN Alliance 최진성 의장(소프트뱅크 수석 펠로우)이 차례로 축사를 전했다.
축사는 AI 시대에 요구되는 초고성능×초지능화 AI 네트워크 구축 및 산업 생태계 육성을 위한 AINA 출범의 의미와 향후 방향을 공유하는 내용으로 발표됐다.
정부와 국내외 산·학·연 기관, 글로벌 협력체가 한 자리에 모인 이번 출범식은 한국이 AI 네트워크 분야를 주도하고 있음을 보여준 계기로 평가된다.
KT는 AI 네트워크 분야에서의 다양한 기술 개발 및 글로벌 협력 경험을 바탕으로 첫 대표의장사를 맡았다. AINA는 국내 통신 3사 및 국내외 산학연관을 중심으로 구성된 13개의 의장사들과 20여개의 국내외 AI 네트워크 밸류체인 관련 기업으로 구성됐다.
앞으로 협력 과제를 구체화하고, 공동 논의 체계 구축, 글로벌 기관과의 MOU 체결 등 산업 생태계 육성 조정자 역할을 수행할 예정이다. 이를 통해 한국형 AI 네트워크 논의를 글로벌 무대로 확장하고, 기술 및 표준 연계를 지속적으로 모색해 나간다는 계획이다.
이와 관련, 이번 출범식에서도 NVIDIA, 소프트뱅크 등 글로벌 통신·AI 기관들이 참여하고 있는 국제 협력체인 AI‑RAN Alliance와 SUTD(Singapore University of Technology and Design)와 MOU(업무협약)도 체결됐다.
이는 앞으로 AINA가 단순히 국내에서만 AI 네트워크 기술 논의를 이어가는 것이 아니라, 글로벌 기업과 협력을 늘리고 표준화 과정을 수행하는 플랫폼 역할을 수행할 것임을 시사하는 것이다. 향후 AINA는 정부의 AI 네트워크 정책 방향과 산업 수요를 반영하고, 국제 협력을 통한 실행 중심의 협력체로 운영될 방침이다.
KT 네트워크부문장 서창석 부사장은 “AINA를 기반으로 한국이 글로벌 AI 네트워크 생태계 주도권을 확보할 것”이라며 “KT는 대표의장사로서 AINA가 국내 AI 네트워크 산업 생태계의 글로벌 경쟁력 확보를 위한 실질적인 협력체가 될 수 있도록 회원사와 같이 노력해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
