가평군은 5일 청평면 청평리 일원에서 새롭게 단장한 '청평면 종합복지회관' 준공식을 개최하고, 주민들을 위한 새로운 문화 거점의 힘찬 출범을 알렸다. 이날 행사에는 서태원 가평군수와 김경수 가평군의회 의장을 비롯해 지역 주민 등 150여 명이 대거 참석해 재건축 사업의 결실을 축하했다.

이번 재건축 사업은 낡고 협소했던 기존 시설을 과감히 헐고, 깐깐해진 주민들의 문화·복지 눈높이에 맞춘 맞춤형 공간을 조성하기 위해 추진됐다. 특히 군은 2024년 우수주민 특별지원사업 선정으로 확보한 한강수계기금 34억 원을 포함해, 특별교부세와 군비 등 총 56억 원의 든든한 실탄을 투입하며 사업에 속도를 냈다.

새롭게 위용을 드러낸 종합복지회관은 대지면적 9,163㎡, 연면적 998.52㎡에 지하 1층~지상 3층 규모로 지어졌다. 1층은 주민자치회 사무실과 수유실 등 편의 공간으로 채워졌으며, 2층은 악기연주실과 강의실, 3층은 다목적실로 꾸며져 향후 다채로운 평생학습 프로그램과 문화·예술 활동의 전초기지 역할을 수행하게 된다.
서태원 가평군수는 이날 기념사를 통해 "새롭게 문을 연 종합복지회관은 주민들의 퀄리티 높은 문화·복지 수요를 충족시키는 든든한 베이스캠프가 될 것"이라며, "이곳이 지역 주민들의 소통과 나눔이 끊이지 않는 활력 넘치는 공동체 공간으로 자리매김하길 기대한다"고 강조했다.
