브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 이란과의 전쟁 종결 여부와 관련해 이스라엘과 협의를 통해 결정하겠다는 입장을 전했다. 다만 최종 결정권은 미국에 있음을 강조하기도 했다.
도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령은 9일(현지 시간) The Times of Israel(TOI)과의 전화 인터뷰에서 "전쟁 종결은 미국과 이스라엘 간 상호 협의를 통해 결정이 될 것"이라면서도 "적절한 시점에 내가 결정을 내릴 것이며 모든 요소를 고려하겠다"고 말했다. 이 발언은 전쟁 종결 여부의 최종 결정권은 미국에 있음을 시사한 것으로 해석된다.
트럼프 대통령은 미국이 전쟁 중단을 선언한 이후에도 이스라엘이 단독으로 군사 작전을 이어갈 가능성에 대해선 "그럴 필요가 없을 것 같다"고 선을 그었다.

아울러 이란 최고지도자의 후계 문제에 대해서는 "어떻게 될지 지켜보자"고 말했다. 앞서 그는 언론 인터뷰에서 이란 차기지도자로 선출된 모즈타바 하메네이에 대해 "한참 부족하다. 이란에 조화와 평화를 가져올 수 있는 인물을 원한다"고 밝힌 바 있다.
