공원식 국민의힘 포항시장 예비후보는 지난 6일 오전 11시 예비후보 선거사무실에서 ‘희망경제캠프’ 여성정책자문단을 구성하고 여성정책 간담회를 개최했다.
공 예비후보는 “여성이 행복해야 건강한 사회가 이루어진다”며 “포항은 철강 경기 부진과 일자리 부족으로 청년과 젊은 여성이 정주하지 못해 인구 감소로 이어지고 있다”고 진단했다. 그러면서 “청년과 여성에 대한 정책을 강화해 포항 경제를 다시 도약시키고 모든 시민이 행복한 도시를 만들겠다”고 강조했다.
그는 오천 인근에 아파트형 공장 설립을 추진해 자동차 부품 조립 등 여성 일자리를 창출하고, 워킹맘을 위한 돌봄센터와 보육센터 확충으로 여성들이 안심하고 일할 수 있는 환경을 만들겠다고 밝혔다.
또 여성 맞춤형 취업교육 확대와 중앙상가 일대 ‘제2테크노파크’ 조성을 공약으로 제시하고, 입주 여성 소상공인에게 임대료를 지원하는 방안도 검토하겠다고 설명했다.
이와 함께 공공배달앱 운영을 통해 소상공인의 배달 수수료 부담을 낮추고, 청년주택 지속 공급과 영·유아 어린이집 확충을 통해 출산·양육 친화적인 도시 환경을 조성하겠다고 덧붙였다.
한편 공 예비후보는 이날 이른 아침 보슬비가 내리는 가운데 우현사거리에서 출근길 시민들에게 인사를 하며 거리 유세를 이어갔다.

문 예비후보는 기존 행정이 과거 방식에 머무르는 ‘경로의존형’ 체계라고 지적하며 “지금 포항에는 과학기술에 대한 이해와 글로벌 네트워크를 갖춘 차원이 다른 실행력이 필요하다”고 강조했다.
연세대학교 화학과 BK21 연구교수 출신이자 미국 위스콘신 매디슨대 화학박사인 그는 자신의 연구 경험을 바탕으로 포항의 산업 지도를 새롭게 재설계하겠다는 구상을 밝혔다.
문 예비후보는 우선 이차전지 산업 경쟁력 강화를 위해 ‘이차전지 글로벌 데이터 플랫폼’의 조기 구축을 추진하겠다고 밝혔다. 이는 유럽연합의 배터리 여권 제도 도입 등 강화되는 환경 규제에 지역 기업들이 대응할 수 있도록 디지털 통합 관리 체계를 구축하는 사업이다.
또 영일만 산업단지 등 이차전지 산업 거점의 전력과 용수 부족 문제를 조기에 해결해 산업 성장의 병목을 해소하겠다고 약속했다.
수소 산업과 관련해서는 포스코와 협력해 수소환원제철 전환에 필요한 인프라 구축을 추진하고, 민간 투자를 유치해 ‘포항 에너지 자립 펀드’를 조성하겠다는 방안을 제시했다. 수소 생산·저장·운송 전 과정에 실시간 디지털 안전관리 시스템을 도입해 시민 신뢰를 확보하겠다는 구상도 밝혔다.
이와 함께 방사광가속기를 기반으로 한 신약 개발 클러스터와 글로벌 제약사 연구개발센터를 유치하는 ‘바이오·디지털 융합 의과학 타운’ 조성도 핵심 공약으로 제시했다.
문 예비후보는 또 시장 직속 ‘디지털혁신본부’를 신설해 데이터 기반 과학 행정을 구축하고 인공지능(AI)과 디지털 관리 체계를 지역 산업에 접목해 포항의 디지털 경쟁력을 강화하겠다고 밝혔다.
문 예비후보는 “애플이 선택했던 포항을 이제 전 세계 기술 자본이 스스로 찾아오는 도시로 만들겠다”며 “과학과 혁신의 힘으로 포항의 산업 지도를 다시 그려내겠다”고 말했다.
