이번 서명운동은 현재 정부에서 진행 중인 JTX 관련 민자적격성조사의 조속한 통과를 촉구하고 철도망 구축에 대한 지역 주민들의 강한 의지를 중앙정부에 전달하기 위해 추진된다.
서명운동 첫날인 9일에는 군청 대회의실에서 사업 추진 의지를 다지는 행사가 열렸다.
전도성 부군수를 비롯해 국장, 실과소장, 읍·면장 등 간부 공무원들이 참석해 ‘JTX 조기 착공’을 촉구하는 슬로건 퍼포먼스를 진행하며 서명운동의 시작을 알렸다.
참석자들은 “JTX 조기 착공, 진천의 미래를 바꾼다”, “민자적격성조사 조속 통과 촉구” 등의 문구가 담긴 피켓을 들고 사업 추진 의지를 다졌다.
