전북특별자치도는 세계자연유산으로 등재된 부안ㆍ고창 갯벌의 생태 보전과 지속 가능한 이용 기반 구축을 위해 총 432억 원 규모의 보전ㆍ복원 사업을 추진한다고 10일 밝혔다.
특히 생태 보전과 지역경제 활성화를 동시에 실현하는 지속 가능한 관리 모델도 구현할 계획이다.
연안 습지보호지역인 고창 갯벌과 부안 줄포만 일원 69.5㎢를 대상으로 지역관리위원회 운영과 명예 습지 생태 안내인 활동ㆍ생태교육 프로그램 등을 통해 주민이 직접 참여하는 자율 관리 체계(해양보호구역 관리 사업 = 연 3억 원)를 강화하고 있다.
