<브레이크뉴스 춘천 = 이향석 기자> 춘천시의 백년대계로 꼽히는 '공공하수처리시설 이전 및 현대화 사업'이 본격적인 착공을 앞둔 가운데, 육동한 춘천시장이 직접 현장을 찾아 안전과 지역 경제 활성화를 위한 고삐를 죄었다.
춘천시는 육동한 시장이 10일 칠전동 일원의 사업 현장을 방문해 공사 준비 상황과 해빙기 안전 관리 실태를 면밀히 점검했다고 밝혔다.

이날 육 시장은 현장사무소에서 사업 추진 현황에 대한 상세 브리핑을 받은 후, 공사 예정지와 주요 시설 설치 구간을 일일이 둘러봤다. 특히 지반이 약해지는 해빙기를 맞아 발생할 수 있는 안전사고 예방에 만전을 기할 것을 지시하는 한편, 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣기 위해 관내 업체의 장비와 소재, 부품 등을 적극적으로 사용해달라고 강력히 요청했다.

이번 사업은 근화동에 위치한 36년 된 노후 하수처리시설을 칠전동으로 이전해 최첨단 시설로 현대화하는 대형 프로젝트다. 총사업비 3,103억 원이 투입되는 이번 공사가 2030년 완공되면, 하루 하수 처리 용량은 기존 15만 톤에서 15만 7천 톤으로 늘어나 춘천시의 정주 여건이 획기적으로 개선될 전망이다.
사업 시행은 춘천바이오텍 주식회사가, 사업 관리는 한국환경공단이 각각 맡는다. 시는 지난달 실시계획 승인 등 행정 절차를 모두 마쳤으며, 이달 중 첫 삽을 떠 오는 2030년 2월 준공을 목표로 속도감 있게 추진할 계획이다.
