전북 익산시는 지역 대표 역사문화축제인 '익산 서동축제'가 오는 5월 1일부터 3일까지 4일간 신흥근린공원과 중앙체육공원 등 도심에서 화려한 축포를 쏘아 올린다고 10일 밝혔다.
올해는 축제장을 도심으로 옮겨 접근성과 공간 활용도를 높이는 동시에 도심 상권과 연계를 강화해 축제 효과가 지역 경제 활성화로 이어질 수 있도록 할 계획이다.
체험과 참여 중심 콘텐츠를 확대해 축제 경쟁력도 강화한다.
특히 서동과 선화의 이야기를 중심으로 축제 전반을 하나의 서사 구조로 재편해 방문객들이 이야기를 따라가며 낮부터 밤까지 즐길 수 있는 체류형 행사로 운영된다.
도심에 마련될 축제장은 ▲ 서동 스토리 ▲ 백제 체험 ▲ 야간 경관 및 미디어 등 주제별 공간으로 구성해 공연과 체험이 각각 진행된다.
