브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 김경이 작가의 개인전 ‘Dear My Nature’가 서울 종로구 부암동에 위치한 하랑갤러리에서 오는 22일까지 열린다.
김 작가는 이번 전시에서 자신의 유년 시절 자연의 기억에서 출발해 인간과 자연의 관계를 다시 성찰하는 작품들을 선보인다.
그의 작업은 어린 시절 마주했던 자연의 풍경에서 비롯된다. 감나무 곁 장독대에 떨어지던 감의 소리, 개천의 미꾸라지와 다슬기, 발끝에 닿을 듯 낮게 내려앉던 하늘 같은 기억들은 작가의 감각 속에 오래 머물러 있다. 그러나 이러한 기억은 두려움과도 맞닿아 있다. 물에 대한 공포와 살쾡이, 벌, 뱀, 가시에 대한 두려움 등 자연을 향한 복합적인 감정이 함께 남아 있다.

시간이 흐른 지금, 한때 두려움의 대상이었던 존재들은 오히려 사라질 위기에 놓여 있다. 인간의 환경 변화로 인해 수많은 생명이 위협받는 현실 속에서 작가는 우리가 무엇을 미워했고 무엇을 잊었으며 무엇을 지켜야 하는지에 대한 질문을 던진다.
작가는 천을 아교와 물감에 적시고 말린 뒤 먹과 색을 덧입히는 과정을 반복하는 방식으로 작업했다. 스미고 번지는 물성은 자연의 숨결처럼 화면 위에 자리하고, 찍고 바르고 적시는 과정 속에서 떠오른 풍경은 단순한 재현이 아닌 기억과 다짐의 흔적으로 표현된다.

‘Dear My Nature’는 자연의 생명에게 보내는 한 통의 편지 같은 전시라고 볼 수 있다. “지켜 줄게요, 함께 살아요.”라는 작가의 고백은 감사와 미안함, 그리고 사랑의 감정으로 확장된다. 작품 앞에 선 관람객은 자연을 향한 감정의 경계를 넘어 함께 살아간다는 것의 의미를 다시 생각해보게 된다.
하랑갤러리 관계자는 “이번 전시가 각자의 마음속에 자리한 자연의 기억을 다시 떠올리는 계기가 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.

The artist works by repeatedly soaking fabric in glue and paint, letting it dry, and then layering ink and color. The permeating and spreading properties of the material take hold on the canvas like the breath of nature, and the landscapes that emerge from the process of stamping, applying, and soaking are not mere reproductions, but traces of memories and commitments.
"Dear My Nature" can be seen as an exhibition like a letter to the life of nature. The artist's confession, "I will protect you. Let's live together," expands into feelings of gratitude, regret, and love.
