단성면 북하리는 지난 10일 북하리 죽령천 일원에서 지역 주민과 기관이 함께하는 국토대청결운동을 실시했다.
이번 행사는 오는 22일 ‘세계 물의 날’을 맞아 깨끗한 수질 환경 조성과 하천 주변 환경 보호의 중요성을 알리기 위해 마련됐다.
북하리 번영회와 한국수자원공사 충주댐지사가 공동 주관해 진행됐으며 지난해에 이어 두 번째로 추진됐다.
이날 행사에는 한국수자원공사 충주댐지사 직원과 단양호텔관광고등학교 학생, 단양노인복지관 노인일자리 참여자, 단성면사무소 직원 등 약 70여 명이 참여했다.
참가자들은 죽령천 일대를 중심으로 하천 주변에 방치된 쓰레기를 수거하고 환경 정화 활동을 펼치며 깨끗한 지역 환경 조성에 힘을 보탰다.
이번 활동은 지역사회가 함께 참여해 하천 환경 보호의 중요성을 되새기는 뜻깊은 시간이 됐다.
천철수 북하리 번영회 회장은 “민·관·학이 함께한 이번 대청결운동을 통해 우리 마을의 아름다운 자연환경을 지키고 주민과 학생, 기관이 함께 소통할 수 있어 더욱 의미 있었다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 환경정화 활동을 통해 살기 좋은 마을 만들기에 앞장서겠다”고 말했다.

단양군 가곡면 주민자치위원회가 쾌적한 공원 환경 조성을 위해 환경정비 활동에 나섰다.
가곡면 주민자치위원회는 지난 10일 가곡면 새별공원 일원에서 주민자치위원 20여 명이 참여한 가운데 공원 환경정비 봉사활동을 실시했다.
이날 위원들은 지난해 주민자치사업으로 조성한 핑크뮬리 꽃밭을 정비하고 공원 곳곳에 방치된 쓰레기를 수거하는 등 공원 환경 개선을 위한 다양한 활동을 펼쳤다.
또한 주민들이 편안하게 이용할 수 있는 공원 환경을 조성하고, 가곡면을 찾는 관광객들에게 깨끗하고 아름다운 이미지를 제공하기 위해 공원 전반을 세심하게 살피며 정비 작업을 진행했다.
신현팔 주민자치위원장은 “주민들이 쾌적하게 이용할 수 있는 공원을 만들고 가곡을 찾는 방문객들에게도 좋은 이미지를 전하기 위해 위원들이 함께 환경정비에 나섰다”며 “앞으로도 주민과 함께하는 다양한 주민자치활동을 통해 살기 좋은 가곡면 만들기에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
