【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=더불어민주당 소속 최우영 북구의원이 12일 북구청장 선거 출마를 공식 선언했다.
현 구청장의 3선 연임 제한으로 공석이 된 북구청장 자리를 두고 여러 후보들이 잇따라 도전장을 내밀면서 선거 구도가 본격적으로 짜여지는 모습이다.
최우영 의원은 이날 대구 북구청 앞에서 기자회견을 열고 “북구의 미래를 지키고 새로운 시대를 열겠다”며 출마 의지를 밝혔다.
최 의원은 “북구가 한때 대구 산업화의 중심지였지만, 주요 정책이나 개발 사업에서 늘 후순위로 밀려왔다”고 지적했다.
특히 매천시장 이전, 도청 터 도심융합특구 개발, 복합문화허브 조성, 도시철도 4호선 건설 등 핵심 현안에서 지역 주민들의 목소리가 제대로 반영되지 못했다고 강조했다. 이어 “북구의 몫은 반드시 북구가 가져와야 한다”고 덧붙였다.

정책 방향에 대해서는 산업 재편과 기업 유치, 경제 활성화, 교통·주거 등 생활 인프라 개선, 북구 중심의 개발사업 재설계를 제시했다.
도심융합특구, 금호워터폴리스, 제3산업단지 재생사업을 연계한 산업 클러스터 조성과 경북농업기술원 이전 부지를 활용한 의료 클러스터 조성, 매천시장 후적지 활용 등이 주요 계획으로 포함됐다.
최 의원은 “북구에는 말뿐인 행정이 아니라 결과를 만들어내는 행정이 필요하다”며 “이제는 관리 중심의 행정을 넘어 현장에서 실질적으로 문제를 해결하는 정치로 북구를 변화시키겠다”는 포부를 밝혔다.
한편 이번 북구청장 선거는 현직 구청장의 3선 임기 종료로 ‘무주공산’이 된 가운데, 여야를 가리지 않고 다양한 후보들이 잇따라 출마를 선언하고 있다.
현재 국민의힘에서는 총 8명이 북구청장 예비후보로 공천 신청을 마친 상태다.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Buk-gu mayoral election has become a "no-man's land" due to the incumbent's three-term term ending. A variety of candidates from both the ruling and opposition parties are announcing their candidacy.
Currently, eight candidates from the People Power Party have submitted their nominations as preliminary candidates for Buk-gu mayor.
