더불어민주당 홍순식 세종시장 예비후보가 최민호 현 시장의 '양자대학원 유치 포기' 발언을 두고 세종시 재정난의 심각성을 강하게 비판했다.
홍 예비후보는 최민호 시장이 최근 언론 인터뷰에서 "대전은 10억~20억 원을 지원해 KAIST 양자대학원을 만들었지만 세종시는 재원이 없어 포기했다"고 밝힌 점을 정면으로 겨냥했다.
그는 "대한민국 행정수도 세종에서 돈 부족으로 미래 전략사업을 포기한 건 기가 찰 노릇"이라며 "지난 2월 출마 선언 때부터 '세종시 셧다운 위기'를 경고했지만 이제 현직 시장이 직접 인정했다"고 지적했다.
홍 후보는 현 시장의 '돈 없음' 발언, 전 시장의 모라토리움 경고, 지역 국회의원의 교부세 연장 추진 등을 나열하며 "모두 재정 한계를 알면서 선거 때는 장밋빛 개발공약만 남발한다"고 꼬집었다.
