【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=조홍철 달서구청장 예비후보가 성서산업단지의 경쟁력 강화를 위해 산업 구조 혁신 방안을 내놨다.
조 예비후보는 대구 최대 산업단지인 성서산단의 노후화, 산업 정체, 청년 인력 부족 등 여러 문제를 해소하기 위해 인프라 개선과 첨단기업 유치, 청년 근로환경 혁신을 중심으로 한 정책 방향을 제시했다.
성서산단은 3,500여 개 기업과 10만 명가량의 근로자가 일하는 대구의 대표 산업단지다. 조성한 지 30년이 넘으며 시설 노후, 물류·주차 문제, 산업 구조 정체 등 다양한 과제가 쌓여 있다는 평가가 나온다.
조 예비후보는 먼저 노후 인프라를 전면적으로 개선하겠다고 공언했다. 도로·물류·주차 인프라를 현대화하고, 물류 동선도 새로 짤 방침이다. 특히 대형 차량 전용 도로와 주차 허브를 마련해 물류 효율을 높이는 한편, ICT 기반 시설 관리와 친환경 에너지 인프라 도입을 통해 산업단지를 스마트하게 전환하겠다는 구상이다.
첨단 산업 유치도 주요 전략 중 하나로 내세웠다. 조 예비후보는 로봇, 첨단소재, AI·데이터, 스마트 제조 기업 유치를 추진하겠다고 밝혔다. 이를 위해 입지 지원, 투자 보조, 연구개발 연계 등 맞춤형 인센티브를 제공해 산업단지의 경쟁력을 한층 끌어올릴 방침이다.
청년 인력 유입을 위한 근로환경 개선도 주요 과제로 꼽았다. 산업단지 주변의 청년 주거 지원과 통근 교통 개선, 생활 편의시설 확충 등으로 근무 여건을 높이고, 인턴십과 현장실습 연계를 통해 청년 일자리 연결도 강화하겠다는 계획이다.
조 예비후보는 “성서산단은 대구 경제의 심장”이라며 “노후 인프라에 혁신을 더하고 첨단기업을 유치해 대구가 다시 일자리 넘치는 산업도시로 거듭나도록 힘쓰겠다”고 강조했다.

Candidate Jo first pledged to comprehensively improve the aging infrastructure. He plans to modernize road, logistics, and parking infrastructure and redesign logistics routes. In particular, his vision is to enhance logistics efficiency by establishing dedicated roads for large vehicles and parking hubs, while simultaneously transforming the industrial complex into a smart hub through ICT-based facility management and the introduction of eco-friendly energy infrastructure.
Attracting high-tech industries was also put forward as one of the key strategies. Preliminary Candidate Cho announced that he would pursue the attraction of companies in robotics, advanced materials, AI and data, and smart manufacturing. To this end, he plans to further enhance the competitiveness of the industrial complex by providing customized incentives, such as location support, investment subsidies, and R&D linkages.
Improving the working environment to attract young talent was also cited as a major task. He plans to improve working conditions by providing housing support for young people around the industrial complex, improving commuting transportation, and expanding living amenities, while also strengthening connections to youth employment through internships and on-the-job training.
"The Seongseo Industrial Complex is the heart of Daegu's economy," Preliminary Candidate Cho emphasized. "I will strive to transform Daegu back into an industrial city overflowing with jobs by adding innovation to aging infrastructure and attracting high-tech companies."
