[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 함양군이 문화체육관광부와 국민체육진흥공단이 주관하는 '2026년 가상현실 스포츠실 보급 사업'에 최종 선정돼 국비 7500만원을 포함한 총사업비 1억 5000만원을 확보했다고 16일 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 나이, 신체 조건 등으로 체육활동 참여가 어려운 유아와 어르신, 장애인 등 스포츠 취약계층을 대상으로 효과적인 체육활동 기회를 제공하기 위해 추진됐다.
가상현실 스포츠실은 가상현실 기술을 활용해 안전한 신체활동을 즐길 수 있도록 마련된 실내 스포츠 공간이다.
날씨나 계절과 관계없이 야구, 축구, 골프, 양궁, 탁구 등 다양한 가상현실 스포츠 콘텐츠를 체험할 수 있으며 운동의 재미는 물론 신체활동 유지와 사회적 교류의 기회도 제공한다.
군은 이번 사업 선정으로 관내 유휴시설 3개소에 가상현실 스포츠실을 조성할 계획으로 이동이 불편한 어르신과 장애인도 생활권 내에서 쉽게 스포츠 활동에 참여할 수 있도록 시설 조성을 최대한 신속하게 추진할 방침이다.
군 관계자는 "이번 가상현실 스포츠실 조성을 통해 어르신과 유아, 장애인 등이 가까운 곳에서 첨단 스포츠를 즐기며 건강한 일상을 보낼 수 있기를 바란다"라며 "앞으로도 다양한 계층이 스포츠의 즐거움을 누릴 수 있도록 촘촘하고 세심하게 생활체육 기반을 확대해 나가겠다"라고 말했다.
