브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 공정거래위원회가 상호출자제한기업집단 HDC의 동일인(총수)인 정몽규 회장을 지정자료 허위 제출 혐의로 검찰에 고발하기로 결정했다.
정 회장은 동생과 외삼촌 일가가 지배하는 계열사 20곳을 최장 19년 동안이나 누락해온 것으로 드러났다.
17일 공정위에 따르면 정 회장은 2021년부터 2024년까지 매년 지정자료를 제출하면서 소속회사 현황에 친족 경영 기업들을 대거 빠뜨렸다.
누락된 회사는 △인트란스해운㈜ △㈜인트란스 △㈜제이앤와이인베스트 △㈜제이앤와이미디어 △삼피케이기업㈜ △싱크로해운㈜(서울) △싱크로해운㈜(여수) △태성아이엔티㈜ 등 동생 일가 지배 8개사와, △㈜에스제이지홀딩스 △에스제이지세종㈜ △에스제이지세움㈜ △에스제이지아센텍㈜ △㈜에스제이지이브이 △에스제이지중앙연구소㈜ △에스제이지에이앤에프㈜ △모비어스㈜ △에스제이지세정㈜ △에스제이지이에쓰엠㈜ △㈜쿤스트할레 △피엘에쓰㈜ 등 외삼촌 일가 지배 12개사를 합쳐 총 20개사에 달한다.
이들 누락 회사의 자산 규모는 매년 1조 원을 상회(2024년 기준 1조2000억원)하며, 일부 회사는 2006년부터 무려 19년간 규제망을 피해왔다.
이로 인해 해당 기업들은 대기업집단에 적용되는 사익편취 규제나 공시 의무를 전혀 받지 않는 ‘법적 공백’ 상태에 놓여 있었다.
공정위는 정 회장이 계열사 누락 사실을 충분히 인지하고 있었음에도 이를 묵인하거나 은폐하려 한 ‘고의성’이 크다고 판단했다.
