【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시가 총 60억 2천만 원의 예산을 투입해 ‘무상급식 및 친환경농산물 학교급식 지원사업’을 추진한다고 18일 밝혔다.
이번 사업을 통해 관내 유치원과 초·중·고등학교, 특수학교 등 총 2만 2,843명의 학생이 무상급식과 친환경 농산물 학교급식 지원 혜택을 받게 된다.
이번 사업은 무상급식 지원을 통해 성장기 학생들에게 균형 잡힌 식사를 안정적으로 제공하고, 지역에서 생산된 친환경 농산물을 학교급식에 공급해 학생 건강 증진과 지역 농업 활성화를 함께 도모하기 위해 마련됐다.
이를 통해 학생들에게 안전하고 신선한 먹거리를 제공하고 지역 농가에는 안정적인 판로를 마련하는 먹거리 선순환 구조가 구축될 것으로 기대된다.
사업 예산은 무상급식 지원사업에 52억 5천만 원, 친환경 우수농산물 학교급식 지원사업에 7억 7천만 원이 편성됐다.
권은하 농식품유통과장은 “성장기 아이들에게 안전하고 건강한 먹거리를 제공하는 것은 매우 중요한 책무”라며 “앞으로도 교육청 및 지역 생산 농가와 긴밀히 협력해 친환경 농산물 생산 기반을 확대하고 학교급식의 품질을 더욱 높여 학생과 학부모가 신뢰할 수 있는 급식 환경을 만들어 가겠다”라고 말했다.
한편 시는 앞으로도 학교급식 식재료의 안전성과 품질을 지속적으로 관리하고 지역 농산물 사용 비율을 확대하는 등 지역 먹거리 선순환 체계 구축에도 힘쓸 계획이다.
