이번 현장 방문은 중부권 광역발명교육지원센터 및 충주삼원초 학교복합시설 건립 부지를 실사한 뒤 추진 현황을 점검하고 구성원들과 간담회를 통해 현안 및 건의 사항을 청취해 교육위원회 의정활동에 반영하고자 마련됐다.
중부권 광역발명교육지원센터는 충주시 탄금공원 일대에 연면적 8,346㎡ 규모로 국비 등 349억 원을 투입해 2028년 10월 개관을 목표로 조성되고 있다.
충주삼원초 학교복합시설은 50m 규모의 실내 수영장을 갖춘 연면적 8,000㎡로 노인건강복지관과 늘봄센터 등으로 운영 예정이며 2029년 2월 개관을 목표로 추진 중이다.
이정범 위원장은 “충청권 발명교육 거점으로서 지역 간 교육 불균형 해소는 물론 학생들에게 수준 높은 발명교육 기회를 제공하게 될 것”이라며 “실내 수영장을 포함한 학교복합시설도 지역 균형발전의 표본이 될 수 있도록 사업 추진에 만전을 기해 달라”고 주문했다.
