【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=청주대학교 김윤배 총장이 유학생 유치 활성화를 위해 중국을 방문, 광동성의 명문 대학교 두 곳과 잇따라 국제교류 협정을 체결하며 글로벌 네트워크 확장에 나섰다.
청주대는 최근 이틀 동안 중국 광동성에서 광동해양대학교(Guangdong Ocean University), 잠강과기학원(Zhanjiang University of Science and Technology)과 각각 국제교류 협정을 맺고 본격적인 교류 활동에 돌입했다고 19일 밝혔다.
특히 청주대는 2013년부터 광동해양대학교와 교류를 시작해 이 대학의 유학생들이 청주대에서 유학을 하는 등 활발한 교류를 이어왔는데, 이번 협정으로 교류의 폭을 더욱 넓히게 됐다.
광동해양대학교와의 협정식에는 유문화(리우원화·劉文華) 총장을 포함한 대학 관계자 3명이, 잠강과기학원 협정식에는 유민(리우민·李敏) 이사장을 포함한 대학 관계자 3명이 참석했다.
청주대학교는 양 교의 협정식에 김윤배 총장을 비롯한 관계자 4명이 자리를 함께했다.
이번 협정에 따라 각 학교 학생들은 청주대와 광동해양대학교, 잠강과기학원에서 공동으로 진행하는 다양한 교류 프로그램에 참여할 기회를 갖게 된다.
김윤배 총장은 "현재 청주대학교에는 37개국 4,100여 명의 유학생이 최첨단 도서관과 하이플렉스 강의실 등 수준 높은 교육환경에서 '실시간 강의 자막/번역 서비스 프로그램'을 통해 학업에 정진하고 있다"며 “청주대는 외국 유학생들이 글로벌 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 모든 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 중국 광동성 잠강시에 있는 광동해양대학교는 1935년 설립된 4년제 공립대학교로, 85개 학과에 학생 4만여 명이 재학 중이다.
또 같은 도시에 위치한 잠강과기학원은 1999년 설립된 3·4년제 사립대학교로, 53개 학과에 학생 3만6,000여 명이 재학하고 있다.
