[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 국립치의학연구원 부산 유치를 위한 열기가 고조되고 있다. 부산시는 21일부터 22일까지 이틀간 벡스코 제2전시장에서 ‘2026 부산 치의학 전시회(BDEX)’를 열고, 치의학 산업 발전과 연구원 유치 공감대 확산에 나선다.
이번 행사는 부산시가 주최하고 부산시치과의사회, 부산경제진흥원이 공동 주관한다. 올해로 자리매김해 온 BDEX는 치과 산업 전시와 국제학술대회를 결합한 국내 대표 치의학 행사로, 업계·학계·의료계가 한자리에 모여 최신 기술과 산업 비전을 공유한다.
전시회에는 80여 개 국내외 기업이 참여해 290여 개 부스를 운영한다. 참가 기업들은 디지털 진료 장비, 3D 프린팅, 인공지능 기반 진단 시스템 등 첨단 치과 기술을 선보이며, 기업 간 상담과 신규 판로 개척 기회를 모색한다.

국제학술대회는 대만·인도 등 7개국 50여 명의 해외 연구자와 전문가가 참석해 최신 치과 임상기술과 연구 성과를 공유한다. 학술대회에서는 보수교육을 포함한 28개 세션이 진행돼 세계 치의학 흐름을 한눈에 볼 수 있는 장이 될 전망이다.
개막 첫날 오후 4시에는 대한치의학회 권긍록 회장이 ‘국립치의학연구원 설립의 당위성’을 주제로 심포지엄을 연다. 이어 오후 5시 개막식에서는 전국 치의학계 인사, 국회의원, 시민 등 90여 명이 참석해 연구원 부산 유치 염원을 담은 퍼포먼스를 선보인다.
또한 행사 기간 동안 마련되는 ‘부산 치의학 산업 공동홍보관’에는 치과기공소와 기자재 업체 등 지역기업 19곳이 참여한다. 공동홍보관은 지역 산업 경쟁력 강화와 제품 홍보를 지원하는 동시에, 부산이 디지털 치과산업 중심지로 성장할 기반을 마련할 것으로 기대된다.
박형준 부산시장은 “BDEX는 치의학 산업의 미래를 확인하고 국립치의학연구원의 부산 유치 필요성을 전국에 알리는 중요한 계기”라며 “산·학·연·의료계의 전문 역량을 하나로 모아 부산을 글로벌 디지털 치의학 거점도시로 발전시키겠다”고 밝혔다.

[Here’s the English version of the article] Busan Rallies Support to Host National Dental Institute at the 2026 Busan Dental Exhibition
Busan is stepping up efforts to host the National Dental Research Institute of Korea as the city opens the 2026 Busan Dental Exhibition (BDEX) from March 21 to 22 at BEXCO. The event will showcase the latest in digital dentistry while promoting Busan’s potential as a global hub for dental innovation.
Hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Government and co-organized by the Busan Dental Association and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, BDEX combines a large-scale industrial exhibition with an international academic conference. It has become one of Korea’s leading dental events, drawing participation from across academia, industry, and clinical practice.
More than 80 companies will occupy around 290 booths to introduce advanced technologies, including digital diagnostic equipment, 3D printing systems, and AI-powered solutions for dental care. The exhibition will support business networking and new market development for participating firms.

The accompanying international conference will bring together about 50 experts and researchers from seven countries, including Taiwan and India. Across 28 sessions, participants will share new clinical techniques, research outcomes, and global trends in modern dentistry.
On the opening day, at 4 p.m., Kwon Geung-rok, president of the Korean Academy of Dental Science, will lead a symposium on the “Necessity of Establishing the National Dental Research Institute.” The event will be followed by a performance at 5 p.m. symbolizing national support for locating the institute in Busan, joined by around 90 guests from the medical community, academia, and government.
A joint promotion pavilion dedicated to Busan’s dental industry will also operate throughout the exhibition, featuring 19 local manufacturers and dental laboratories. It aims to help local businesses expand their market reach and strengthen the city’s competitiveness in the digital dentistry sector.
Mayor Park Heong-joon said, “BDEX will not only showcase the future of dental technologies but also serve as a key moment to build nationwide support for establishing the National Dental Research Institute in Busan. The city will continue to unite its academic, industrial, and medical resources to become a global leader in digital dentistry.”
