<브레이크뉴스 포천 = 김형렬 기자> 포천시가 평생 건강의 튼튼한 기초가 되는 성장기 아동들의 치아 관리를 위해 직접 발 벗고 나섰다.
포천시보건소 구강보건센터는 관내 초등학교를 직접 찾아가는 ‘해피스마일 치아건강교실’을 본격 운영하며 맞춤형 구강보건교육과 불소도포 사업을 대대적으로 전개한다고 20일 밝혔다.

영구치가 단단하게 자리 잡는 초등학생 시기는 평생의 치아 건강을 좌우하는 중요한 골든타임이다. 이에 시는 학생들이 올바른 구강 관리 습관을 스스로 형성하고 치아우식증(충치)을 사전에 예방할 수 있도록 이번 예방처치 프로그램을 기획했다.
올해 사업은 교육 참여를 희망한 관내 22개 초등학교 학생 1,588명을 대상으로 진행된다. 전문 면허를 갖춘 치과의사와 치과위생사가 직접 학교 현장을 방문해 올바른 칫솔질 방법 등 구강위생 관리법을 눈높이에 맞춰 꼼꼼하게 교육한다.
특히, 치아 표면을 단단하게 코팅해 충치 예방 효과가 탁월한 불소도포 시술을 무상으로 제공하며, 교육이 끝난 후에도 가정과 학교에서 스스로 구강 관리를 이어갈 수 있도록 학생들에게 불소 양치 용액을 넉넉히 지원해 예방 효과를 극대화할 방침이다.
