경기도가 채무와 부채 등 극심한 경제적 위기로 벼랑 끝에 선 도민들을 지키기 위해 금융과 복지, 정신건강을 하나로 잇는 강력한 통합 안전망 구축에 나섰다.
경기도는 19일 경기도청에서 김성중 행정1부지사 주재로 ‘경기도 자살예방대책 추진 전담조직(TF) 1차 회의’를 개최했다. 이번 회의는 경제적 빈곤이 극단적 선택으로 이어지는 연결고리를 끊어내기 위해 금융 취약계층 고위험군을 향한 구체적인 집중 지원 방안을 논의하는 자리로 마련됐다.
경기도가 이번 TF를 경제·금융 분야에 집중시킨 배경에는 뼈아픈 통계 지표가 있다. 도의 심리부검 데이터 분석 결과, 자살 위험군 중 ‘경제중심위험형’이 36.7%로 가장 높은 비중을 차지했다. 이들 중 90.4%는 부채로 인한 극심한 스트레스를 겪고 있었으며, 주택 임차 및 구입(28.7%), 생활비(23.3%), 사업 자금(20.0%) 등이 주요 원인으로 꼽혔다.
