국립소방병원은 올해 6월 중 정식 개원에 앞서 성공적이고 안정적인 개원을 위해 단계별 시범 진료를 이어오고 있다.
지난해 12월부터 소방·경찰공무원 및 직계가족을 대상으로 5개 과목에 대해 시범진료를 시작한 데 이어, 올해 2월에는 지역 내 의료 수요가 높은 소아청소년과와 산부인과를 중심으로 지역 주민 대상 시범 진료의 첫발을 성공적으로 내디뎠다.
이번 확대 조치에 따라 23일부터는 기존 소아청소년과와 산부인과를 포함해 내과(소화기, 순환기, 감염), 외과(대장항문, 일반외과, 화상), 재활의학과, 신경과, 신경외과, 정형외과, 이비인후과, 정신건강의학과, 가정의학과 등 총 11개 과목의 시범 진료가 제공될 예정이다.
진료과목 확대와 더불어 내원객의 편의를 위해 운영시간도 확대된다. 기존에는 주 2회(화·목) 휴진하고 월요일 오후, 수·금요일 오전만 제한적으로 진료를 시행해 왔다.
