(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 23일, 과거 새우젓 시장 등으로 번성했던 인천 화수부두 일원을 고부가가치 첨단 뿌리산업의 핵심 거점으로 탈바꿈시키는 도시재생사업을 본격 추진한다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 화수부두 일원 도시재생사업은 국토교통부가 주관한 2024년 혁신지구 국가시범지구 공모에 선정(도시경제기반형)된데 이어 지난 2025년 12월 국토교통부 도시재생특별위원회 심의를 통해 국가지원 사항이 최종 확정됐다.
이번 사업은 총사업비 1,233.8억 원[마중물사업 1,217억 원(국비 250, 시비 125, 구비 125, 기타 717), 지자체 10.8억 원, 부처 6억 원]이 투입되는 대규모 프로젝트로, 인천시는 도시재생활성화계획 확정을 통해 2029년까지 화수부두 일원을 산업·상업·주거 기능이 집적된 ‘복합경제거점’으로 조성할 계획이다.
○ 첨단 산업과 주거가 공존하는 복합 거점 구축
사업 시행은 인천 동구청이며, 핵심 사업으로는 마중물 사업인 뿌리혁신플랫폼, 화수어울림센터, 화수혁신마을 조성 등이 추진된다.
특히 혁신지구의 성공적인 안착을 위해 뿌리명장교육센터 운영, 뿌리산업 플랫폼 지원, 취․창업 지원센터 운영 등 체계적인 지원 기반을 구축해 노후 공업지역에 젊은 활력을 불어넣고 양질의 일자리를 창출할 방침이다.
이와 함께 지자체 사업으로 특화가로 조성과 공업지역활성화 사업을 추진하고, 부처 연계 사업인 뿌리산업특화단지 조성도 병행하여 사업의 완성도를 높인다.
○ 열악한 주거환경 개선 및 주민편의 공간 확대
그간 대규모 공장지대와 인접해 주거환경이 열악했던 지역은 공동주택인 ‘화수혁신마을’로 재탄생한다.
또한, 근로자와 주민들을 위한 노유자시설·체육시설·자활센터 등을 갖춘 ‘화수어울림센터’를 건립해 주민 삶의 질을 획기적으로 개선한다.
