이날 행사는 참석자 소개를 시작으로 국민의례, 유공자 표창, ‘1마을 1하천 가꾸기’ 업무협약, 기념사, 하천 정비활동 순으로 진행됐다.
군은 지역 마을과의 협력을 바탕으로 지속 가능한 하천관리 체계를 구축하기 위해 ‘1마을 1하천 가꾸기 업무협약’을 체결했다.
협약에는 단양읍 노동리, 단성면 북하리, 대강면 장림리, 가곡면 사평1리, 영춘면 사지원2리 등 5개 마을이 참여해 마을 인근 하천을 자율적으로 관리·보전해 나가기로 했다.

또한 가곡면 지역사회보장협의체는 현장에서 복지사각지대 발굴 홍보 캠페인을 병행해 도움이 필요한 이웃을 발굴하고 지역 복지에 대한 주민 인식을 높이는 계기를 마련했다.
적성면도 지난 20일 새봄을 맞아 국토대청결 환경정화 활동에 동참했다.
이날 행사에는 이장협의회와 주민자치위원회, 새마을남·녀지도자협의회, 노인회, 바르게살기협의회, 면사무소 직원 등 80여 명이 참여해 주요 도로변과 등산로 입구 등 겨우내 쌓인 쓰레기를 집중 수거하며 지역 환경 개선에 힘을 보탰다.
