더불어민주당 남진근 대전 동구청장 예비후보가 대전역을 중심으로 한 대규모 원도심 재생 프로젝트를 발표하며, 중앙동과 삼성동을 ‘도시재생 국가선도지구’로 지정받아 콘텐츠 산업 중심지로 탈바꿈시키겠다고 선언했다.
남 후보는 23일 보도자료를 통해 “대전역세권 개발과 도심융합특구, 충청권 광역철도 사업과 연계해 원도심을 충청권 콘텐츠 산업의 허브로 육성하겠다”고 밝혔다.
그는 “콘텐츠 기업 유치와 청년 일자리 창출, 민간 투자 확대를 통해 원도심 경제 활성화를 이끌겠다”며 “단순 도시 정비를 넘어 중장기적 대규모 재생 사업으로 추진할 것”이라고 강조했다.
남 후보는 중앙동을 ‘대전역 K-콘텐츠 클러스터’로 조성해 웹툰, 콘텐츠 제작 스튜디오, 디자인·창업 공간과 콘텐츠 IP 사업화 플랫폼 등으로 구성된 산업 생태계를 구축하겠다고 약속했다.
지난해 확보된 6억 원 예산을 포함해 총 400억 원 규모로 사업을 추진해 지역 청년들에게 창작과 문화산업 분야에서 양질의 일자리를 제공한다는 계획이다.
