[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시는 23일 6개 지역서점과 ‘북 페이백 서비스’ 추진을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
협약에 참여한 서점은 제일서적, 인문핵방 생의 한가운데, 숲으로 된 성벽, 내외서점, 가야서점(삼계점), 오복당서점이다.
이번 협약은 시민의 독서활동을 장려하고 지역서점 활성화 지원을 위해 마련된 것으로, 시민이 협약 서점에서 책을 구입하고, 일정 기간 읽은 후 구입한 서점으로 반납하면 서점에서 책값을 돌려주는 사업이다.
6개 지역서점은 사업 운영지침을 준수해 시민에게 서비스를 제공하고, 김해시는 사업 총괄 운영과 정산, 홍보 등을 지원하게 된다.
김해시는 도서관·학교·지역서점이 함께 성장하는 독서 생태계를 구축해 ‘책읽는 도시’로의 위상을 더욱 강화해 나갈 계획이다.
홍태용 시장은 협약식에서 “지역서점은 사람이 만나고, 생각이 이어지는 우리 동네 문화거점 공간”이라며 “이번 북 페이백 사업이 시민에게는 독서의 즐거움을, 지역서점에게는 새로운 활력을 불어넣는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

Gimhae City Signs MOU for ‘Book Payback Service’ with 6 Local Bookstores
On the 23rd, Gimhae City signed a business agreement with six local bookstores to promote the ‘Book Payback Service.’
The bookstores participating in the agreement are Jeil Books, Inmunhekbang Saeng-ui Gaeundae, Sup-ro Deun Seongbyeok, Naewoe Bookstore, Gaya Bookstore (Samgye Branch), and Obokdang Bookstore.
This agreement was established to encourage citizens’ reading activities and support the revitalization of local bookstores. Under this program, citizens purchase books at participating bookstores, read them for a certain period, and then return them to the store where they purchased them to receive a refund for the cost.
The six local bookstores will provide the service to citizens in compliance with the operational guidelines, while Gimhae City will support the overall operation, settlement, and promotion of the project.
Gimhae City plans to further strengthen its status as a ‘City of Reading’ by building a reading ecosystem where libraries, schools, and local bookstores grow together. At the signing ceremony, Mayor Hong Tae-yong stated, “Local bookstores are cultural hubs in our neighborhoods where people meet and thoughts connect,” adding, “I hope this book payback project will serve as an opportunity to bring the joy of reading to citizens and breathe new vitality into local bookstores.”
