충남교육청, '학생건강교육센터' 체험형 프로그램 본격 가동

충남교육청이 2026학년도부터 학생건강교육센터를 거점으로 체험형 건강교육을 본격화한다. 교실 안 지식 전달에 머물렀던 건강교육을 체육·보건·영양이 결합된 실천형 과정으로 넓혀, 학생 스스로 생활습관을 점검하고 관리하는 역량을 키우겠다는 구상이다.

학생건강교육센터는 지난해 12월 공식 출범한 전국 최초의 통합 건강교육 시설이다. 청양군 장평면 옛 장평중학교 부지에 조성됐으며, 학령인구 감소로 문을 닫은 폐교를 미래형 교육공간으로 전환한 사례라는 점에서도 의미가 적지 않다. 단순한 시설 재활용을 넘어 지역에 남겨진 학교 공간을 교육과 생활의 거점으로 다시 살려냈다는 평가가 나온다.

센터는 지상 3층 규모로 꾸려졌으며 체육 8개, 보건 18개, 영양 21개 등 모두 47개 체험 프로그램을 갖췄다. 인공지능과 교육정보기술을 접목한 몰입형 활동을 통해 학생들이 건강 개념을 몸으로 익히고, 일상에서 실천할 수 있도록 설계한 것이 특징이다. 건강교육을 개별 영역별 수업이 아니라 통합적 생활교육으로 재편하려는 충남교육청의 방향성이 이 공간에 집약돼 있다.

올해 체험교육은 3월 16일부터 12월 24일까지 운영된다. 신청은 학급 단위를 원칙으로 하되, 소규모 학교는 학년군별 통합 신청도 가능하다. 하루 참여 인원은 최대 60명이며, 운영은 오전·오후 각 2시간 기준의 반일제와 전일제 가운데 선택할 수 있다. 희망 학교에는 중식과 임차버스도 지원한다. 방학 기간에는 보호자와 지역 주민까지 참여 대상을 넓혀 지역 특성을 반영한 특별 프로그램도 운영할 예정이다.

지난 16일 부여중앙유치원을 대상으로 첫 체험교육이 진행됐고, 1학기에는 도내 유치원과 초·중·고 73개교가 참여하는 일정이 잡혀 있다. 지난해 시범운영에서는 신체활동 프로그램과 지역 특산물을 활용한 요리 체험 등이 호응을 얻으며 교육과정의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인했다.

김지철 교육감은 학생건강교육센터를 학생들이 건강의 의미를 스스로 이해하고 실천하는 배움터로 키우겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다. 체육·보건·영양이 유기적으로 연결되는 새로운 교육모델을 바탕으로 학교와 지역사회를 잇는 건강교육 운영 기반으로 발전시키겠다는 설명이다.
