대구대학교(총장 박순진)는 지난 24일 동편복지관 3층에서 ‘스타트업 그라운드(Startup Ground)’ 개소식을 개최하고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.
스타트업 그라운드는 2025년 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE) 사업의 일환인 ‘경북창업밸리도시 조성(K-IDEA Valley)’ 프로젝트를 통해 구축된 창업스터디 카페로, 학생들의 창업 활동을 지원하기 위한 전용 복합공간이다. 대학은 약 654㎡(197평) 규모로 공간을 조성해 창업 교육과 실습을 동시에 수행할 수 있는 환경을 마련했다.
공간은 창업자와 창업 동아리의 협업을 고려해 다양하게 구성됐다. 개인 창업 활동을 위한 집중업무공간을 비롯해 팀 단위 활동을 위한 소규모 워크룸, 전문가 상담이 가능한 멘토링 상담실이 마련됐다. 또한 원격 화상회의와 동시 강의가 가능한 교육실 및 회의실을 갖춰 외부와의 연계 협력도 가능하도록 했다.
이날 개소식에는 박순진 총장을 비롯한 대학 주요 보직자와 RISE사업단 관계자, 창업 동아리 학생 등 40여 명이 참석했다. 참석자들은 테이프 커팅식 이후 시설을 둘러보며 공간 활용 방안과 창업 지원 방향에 대한 의견을 공유했다.
박순진 총장은 “스타트업 그라운드는 학생들이 창의적인 아이디어를 현실로 구현하고 미래 창업가로 성장하는 핵심 거점이 될 것”이라며 “RISE 사업을 기반으로 지역사회와 연계한 창업 인재 발굴과 지원에 지속적으로 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.

Daegu University has newly established an on-campus startup hub and is stepping up its support for youth entrepreneurship.
Daegu University (President Park Soon-jin) held an opening ceremony for ‘Startup Ground’ on the 3rd floor of the East Welfare Center on the 24th and began full-scale operations.
Startup Ground is an entrepreneurship study cafe built through the ‘K-IDEA Valley’ project, which is part of the 2025 Regional Innovation Center University Support System (RISE) initiative. It is a dedicated multi-purpose space designed to support students' entrepreneurial activities. The university created a space spanning approximately 654 square meters (197 pyeong) to provide an environment where entrepreneurship education and practical training can be conducted simultaneously.
The space is configured in various ways to facilitate collaboration between entrepreneurs and student startup clubs. It includes intensive workspaces for individual startup activities, small-scale workrooms for team-based work, and mentoring rooms where expert consultations are available. In addition, the facility is equipped with classrooms and conference rooms capable of remote video conferencing and simultaneous lectures, enabling collaboration with external partners.
Approximately 40 people attended the opening ceremony, including President Park Soon-jin, key university officials, representatives from the RISE Project Group, and students from startup clubs. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees toured the facility and shared opinions on how to utilize the space and the direction of startup support.
President Park Soon-jin stated, "Startup Ground will become a key hub where students can turn creative ideas into reality and grow into future entrepreneurs," adding, "Based on the RISE project, we will continue to strive to discover and support entrepreneurial talent in conjunction with the local community."
