이번 특강은 단양 다누리아쿠아리움 내 새롭게 조성된 관상어 교육장에서 진행되며, 오전·오후 2회차로 나누어 회차별 20명씩 총 40명의 학생이 참여할 예정이다.
참여 학생들은 테라리움을 직접 만들어보며 식물의 생장 과정과 생태계의 구조 및 상호작용을 이해하는 체험형 교육에 참여하게 된다.
군은 이번 프로그램을 통해 새학기를 맞은 어린이들에게 자연 생태에 대한 관심과 이해를 높이고, 창의적 체험 활동 기회를 제공할 계획이다.
특히 체험 중심 교육을 통해 관찰력과 창의력 향상에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
한편, 다누리아쿠아리움은 해양수산부 공모사업으로 추진된 ‘관상어 체험·전시시설 설치사업’을 통해 관상어 교육장을 신설했으며, 이를 기반으로 생태교육 기능을 강화하고 있다.
군 관계자는 “다누리아쿠아리움을 중심으로 학생 대상 생태교육과 체험 프로그램을 지속 확대해 나갈 계획”이라며 “과학문화 확산과 생태교육 거점으로서의 역할을 더욱 강화해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
