【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=청주대학교는 2026학년도 1학기 명사 초청 특강 ‘글로벌 시대, 창조와 도전’ 강사로 오송 전 주포르투갈 대사를 초청해 ‘경계를 넘어 새로운 나를 만나는 법’을 주제로 강연했다고 25일 밝혔다.
이날 강연에서 오 전 대사는 “글로벌 시대를 맞이해 학생들의 시야는 한반도에만 머무르는 게 아닌 세계 무대를 향해 눈맞춤할 필요가 있다”며 “대학 생활은 이를 위해 세계 무대로 도약하는 준비기간이 될 필요가 있다”고 말했다.
그는 고대 그리스 역사가인 헤로도토스와 투키디데스가 저술한 ‘역사’, ‘펠로폰네소스 전쟁사’에 나오는 사례를 들며 국제관계의 특성 등을 설명했다.
오 전 대사는 “국제관계의 특성은 인간관계에서도 그대로 투영된다”며 “국가가 생존을 위해 주인의식을 갖는 것처럼 학생들도 사회 진출할 때 자신의 삶에 주인이 돼야 한다”고 강조했다.
이어 “내면세계가 바깥으로 투영될 때 세상을 바라보는 시각도 달라질 것”이라며 “스스로의 목표에 도달하기 위해선 주인의식, 선택 그리고 책임이 무엇보다 중요하다”고 재차 강조했다.
오 전 대사는 마지막으로 허시필드 미국 UCLA 교수의 ‘미래의 나를 만난 후 오늘이 달라졌다’를 소개한 뒤 “미래의 모습을 그려보며 하루하루 최선을 다하고, 선택에 대해선 스스로 책임을 지는 학생이 돼달라”고 당부했다.
서울대를 졸업한 오 전 대사는 1985년 당시 외무부(현 외교부)에 입직해 주 포르투갈대사, 주몽골 대사 등을 역임했다.
