더불어민주당 신혜영 대전 서구청장 예비후보가 방위사업청 대전 이전을 지역 산업과 교육, 일자리로 연결하겠다며 이른바 ‘방산교육 수도 서구’ 구상을 내놨다. 방위사업청 대전 신청사는 2025년 3월 착공에 들어갔고, 2028년 준공 시 과천에 남아 있는 인원을 포함해 약 1600명이 대전으로 옮겨 근무할 전망이다.
