충남 당진시 신평면 상오지구가 농림축산식품부의 ‘2026년 농촌공간정비사업’ 신규 공모에 최종 선정됐다. 이를 통해 2028년까지 총 50억 원 규모로 축사와 폐건물 철거를 추진하며 농촌 환경을 대대적으로 개선한다.
농촌공간정비사업은 악취·소음 발생과 오염물질 배출 등 주민 삶의 질을 떨어뜨리는 환경관리 시설을 정비·이전하는 공모 사업이다. 당진시는 2023년 신평면 거산지구(219억 원)에 이어 2025년 신평면 초대·남산지구(46억 원), 순성면 갈산지구(47억 원) 선정 후 이번이 네 번째 성과다.
이번 사업은 국비 25억 원을 포함한 50억 원 예산으로 신평면 상오리·남산리 일원 현업 축사 1개소, 폐축사 11개소, 폐건축물 25개소를 철거한다. 이를 통해 인근 주민의 쾌적한 주거 여건과 정주 환경을 획기적으로 개선할 전망이다.
당진시는 2023년 농식품부로부터 농촌공간 재구조화 기본계획 시범 지자체로 선정돼 지난해 10월 시 전역 10년 중장기 계획을 수립했다. 이 계획이 최근 농업 AX 기술 개발(47억 원), 농촌 돌봄공동체(9억 원) 등 연이어 공모 선정의 발판이 됐으며, 상오지구 사업도 그 연장선상에 있다.
