원주시는 산업통상자원부가 주관한 ‘AI 융합 에스테틱 의료기기 글로벌 사업화 기반 구축 사업’ 공모에 최종 선정되어 국비 150억 원을 대거 확보하는 쾌거를 거뒀다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 최첨단 인공지능(AI) 기술과 피부 의료데이터를 결합해 새로운 에스테틱 신산업을 육성하고, 나아가 글로벌 시장에서의 독보적인 경쟁력을 확보하는 것을 최우선 목표로 한다. 핵심 추진 과제로는 ▲AI 융합 에스테틱 의료기기 개발 지원 ▲시제품 제작 및 시험·인증을 위한 전용 인프라 구축 ▲글로벌 시장 진출 및 맞춤형 마케팅 지원 등 기업의 전주기 지원 체계 마련 등이 꼽힌다.
이를 위해 원주시는 강원특별자치도, (재)원주의료기기산업진흥원, 연세대학교 미래산학협력단, (재)한국AI의료헬스케어연구원 등과 강력한 컨소시엄을 구성하고, 산·학·연의 긴밀한 협력을 기반으로 AI 융합 에스테틱 신산업 생태계를 본격적으로 구축해 나갈 계획이다.
시는 오는 2030년까지 확보된 국비 150억 원을 포함해 총 217억 5,000만 원의 막대한 사업비를 투입한다. 이를 통해 에스테틱 산업의 체계적인 사업화 기반을 다지고, 인허가 및 시장 진출 지원은 물론 기업 역량 강화 프로그램을 운영하여 지역 의료기기 기업들의 글로벌 경쟁력을 획기적으로 끌어올릴 방침이다.
특히, 기존 의료기기 산업에 피부 의료데이터를 활용한 AI 기술과 K-뷰티 산업을 성공적으로 융합시킨 새로운 롤모델을 창출하여 글로벌 시장을 선점하겠다는 강력한 전략이 담겨 있다.
