세종특별자치시와 세종특별자치시교육청이 교육부 주관 교육국제화특구 연차평가에서 전국 18개 특구 중 3위를 기록하며 최우수 특구로 선정되었다고 26일 밝혔다.
교육국제화특구는 지역 균형 발전과 글로벌 전문 인재 양성을 목표로 교육부가 추진하는 사업이다. 이번 평가는 2025년 한 해 동안의 운영 성과를 바탕으로 보고서 심사와 대면 평가, 교육국제화특구위원회의 최종 심의를 거쳐 확정되었다.
세종시는 시교육청과의 긴밀한 협력을 바탕으로 지난 2023년 7월 제3기 교육국제화특구로 지정되었다. 지정 기간은 오는 2027년 7월까지 총 5년이며, 시는 매년 국제화 역량 강화를 위한 실행 계획을 수립하고 추진 성과에 대해 교육부의 엄격한 검증을 받고 있다.
세종시가 이번 평가에서 최우수 등급을 거머쥔 배경에는 학교 현장과 전문 기관을 연계한 실질적인 국제화 프로그램들이 자리 잡고 있다.
이번 평가에서 세종시는 글로벌 교육 교류, 교원 역량 강화, 전문 기관 연계 항목에서 우수 평가를 받았다.

Fruits of Cooperation Between Sejong City and Office of Education: Ranked 3rd Nationwide in Annual Evaluation of Special Zones for Education Internationalization
Sejong Special Self-Governing City and the Sejong Special Self-Governing City Office of Education announced on the 26th that they were selected as the top-performing special zone, ranking 3rd out of 18 special zones nationwide in the annual evaluation of Special Zones for Education Internationalization conducted by the Ministry of Education.
