춘천시는 27일 에너지 위기 극복을 위한 ‘대중교통 이용 캠페인’을 전격 실시하는 동시에, 이날부터 공공부문 차량 5부제를 시행하며 강도 높은 에너지 절약 대책을 가동했다고 밝혔다.

이날 열린 캠페인에는 춘천시청을 비롯해 춘천경찰서, 춘천시민버스, 석사동통장협의회, 자율방범연합대, 모범운전자연합회 춘천지회, 한국교통안전공단 등 7개 유관기관 관계자 60여 명이 참여해 대중교통 이용의 중요성을 알렸다. 참가자들은 시민들을 대상으로 버스 이용을 독려하는 한편, 운전자 횡단보도 일단정지 및 보행자 무단횡단 금지 등 교통안전 수칙 홍보 활동도 병행했다.

이와 함께 춘천시는 공공부문부터 솔선수범하기 위해 차량 5부제를 전격 도입했다. 대상은 시 본청과 소속기관, 시의회, 출자출연기관의 공용차량 및 임직원의 10인승 이하 승용자동차다. 차량 번호판 끝자리를 기준으로 월요일(1·6), 화요일(2·7), 수요일(3·8), 목요일(4·9), 금요일(5·0)에 해당 차량의 운행이 제한된다. 다만 친환경차(전기, 수소차)와 장애인, 임산부 차량 등은 제외된다.

시는 그동안 마을버스 노선의 중앙시장 직결 운행, 등하교 시간 조정, 정차 구간 확대 등 시민들의 목소리를 반영해 시내버스 편의성을 대폭 개선해왔다. 특히 통학(S-버스) 12개 노선과 병원 6개 노선 등 맞춤형 노선을 성공적으로 안착시키며 시내버스 이용객 수가 꾸준히 증가하는 성과를 거두고 있다.
