대전시교육청이 직업계고 학생들의 해외 현장학습과 취업 연계를 강화하기 위해 ‘2026년 직업계고 글로벌 현장학습 호주인턴십’ 준비에 나섰다.
대전시교육청은 30일 대전교육과학연구원 대강당에서 학생과 학부모, 지도교사 등 350여 명이 참석한 가운데 사업설명회를 열고, 내년도 운영 방향을 안내했다.
이번 설명회는 단순한 사업 소개를 넘어 실제 참여를 준비하는 학생과 학부모에게 현장의 정보를 제공하는 데 초점을 맞췄다. 지난 기수 인솔교사의 운영 사례 발표를 비롯해 2026년 사업 계획, 호주 브리즈번 현지 여건 등이 공유되며 참가자들의 이해를 도왔다.
내년도 프로그램은 4월부터 시작되는 3단계 선발 절차를 통해 참여 학생을 확정한다. 선발된 학생들은 국내에서 영어 기초·심화 교육과 안전 교육 등을 이수한 뒤, 9월부터 약 8주간 호주 브리즈번에서 현지 실습에 참여하게 된다.
올해는 기존 건축(타일), 조리, 미디어콘텐츠, 전공서비스 분야에 더해 뷰티(헤어) 분야가 새롭게 포함됐다. 총 5개 분야에서 30명의 학생이 선발될 예정으로, 전공 역량을 국제 현장에서 검증할 기회가 확대됐다는 평가가 나온다.
대전시교육청의 호주인턴십은 2012년 대전시와 함께 시작된 이후 10년 넘게 이어져 온 대표적인 직업교육 해외 프로그램이다. 2025년까지 누적 수료생은 480명에 이르며, 지난해에는 참여 학생 30명 가운데 23명이 현지 취업 약정을 체결하는 성과도 거뒀다.
