【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=더불어민주당 박희정 포항시장 예비후보가 포스코 수소환원제철 설비 전용부지 조성과 관련한 정부의 산업단지계획 변경 고시에 대해 환영 입장을 밝혔다.
박 예비후보는 27일 입장문을 통해 “국토교통부의 포항국가산업단지 산업단지계획 변경 고시로 수소환원제철 설비 전용부지 조성을 위한 인허가 절차가 마무리됐다”며 “이는 포항 철강산업의 탄소중립 전환과 지역경제 재도약을 위한 중요한 전기”라고 평가했다.
이어 “국가적 과제인 산업 대전환과 탄소중립 실현을 위해 이재명 정부가 현장의 불확실성을 줄이고 행정절차를 신속히 정리해 사업 추진 기반을 마련했다는 점에서 의미가 크다”고 밝혔다.
다만 박 예비후보는 “이번 승인이 사업의 완결을 의미하는 것은 아니다”며 후속 조치의 중요성을 강조했다. 그는 “공유수면 매립을 수반하는 사업인 만큼 지역사회에서 다양한 우려와 의견이 제기되어 왔다”며 “포스코는 안전과 환경을 최우선으로 두고 투명한 정보 공개와 상시 소통을 통해 지역사회의 신뢰를 확보해야 한다”고 말했다.
또한 포항시의 역할에 대해서는 “해양환경과 안전관리의 철저한 이행, 사후 모니터링의 실효성 확보, 주민·어민 등 이해관계자와의 상설 협의체 운영, 지역업체 참여 확대와 상생 방안 구체화가 필요하다”고 밝혔다.
아울러 “수소환원제철 전환 과정에서 전력·에너지 인프라와 교통·물류, 재난·안전 대응체계 등 도시 기반 연계가 필수적”이라며 “관계부처 및 정부와 긴밀히 협력해 필요한 지원체계를 마련하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
박 예비후보는 “포항의 미래는 산업 경쟁력과 시민 삶의 질, 환경과 안전이 함께 갈 때 완성된다”며 “수소환원제철 사업이 지역사회와 조화를 이루는 모범적인 산업전환 사례가 되도록 책임 있게 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
