지난 3월 26일, 김일헌 전 경주시의회 의장을 비롯한 전직 시의원 38명은 성명서를 통해 주 예비후보에 대한 공식 지지를 선언했다. 이들은 “주낙영 예비후보는 지난 8년간 경주시장직을 수행하며 시민들로부터 자질과 덕목을 충분히 검증받은 인물”이라고 평가했다.

지역 단체들의 지지 방문도 이어지고 있다. 지난 25일에는 경주시 읍면동체육협의회와 황오동 주민자치위원회, 체육회, 자율방범대 등 지역 기반 단체들이 선거사무소를 찾아 지지를 표명했다. 27일에는 전국 초등·유소년지도자협회와 장기요양재가협회, 월성동행정복지센터 건립추진위원회 등이 잇따라 방문해 정책 방향에 공감의 뜻을 밝혔다.
주 예비후보 측은 “지역 원로들과 각계각층 시민단체의 지지는 경주 발전을 바라는 시민들의 뜻”이라며 “보내준 지지에 보답하기 위해 압도적인 승리로 중단 없는 경주 발전을 이루겠다”고 밝혔다.
