【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 북구의 12개 동에 위치한 치매안심마을이 보건복지부 평가에서 4년 연속 ‘우수 치매안심마을’로 지정됐다.
이로써 북구는 지역사회 기반 치매 대응 능력을 다시 한 번 인정받았다.
이번 평가에서는 칠성동, 침산3동, 산격1동, 대현동, 복현2동, 무태조야동, 태전1·2동, 구암동, 관음동, 읍내동, 노원동 등 북구 전역 12개 동이 모두 우수 등급을 유지한 것으로 나타났다. 이 같은 성과는 2023년부터 이어진 연속 기록으로, 의미가 크다는 평가다.
치매안심마을 사업은 지역 주민이 주축이 돼 치매 환자와 가족이 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 우수 지정을 위해서는 연 2회 이상 운영위원회 개최, 치매안심가맹점 지정, 주민 대상 교육 및 프로그램 운영, 안전 환경 조성 등 7가지 기준을 충족해야 한다.
북구는 지난 2019년 구암동을 시작으로 치매안심마을을 단계적으로 확대해 현재 12개 동 체계를 갖췄다. 주민이 직접 참여하는 운영위원회 활동, 지역 상점과 연계한 가맹점 확장, 꾸준한 인식 개선 교육 등이 이번 평가에서 긍정적으로 작용한 것으로 분석된다.
이영숙 북구 보건소장은 “12개 치매안심마을이 4년 연속 우수로 지정돼 매우 뜻깊다”며 “치매 환자와 가족이 지역사회에서 고립되지 않고 안전하게 생활할 수 있도록 치매 친화 환경 조성에 더욱 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
북구치매안심센터는 앞으로 주민자치센터 강좌와 연계한 치매 파트너 교육을 확대하고, 방문형 조기 검진 서비스를 도입해 예방과 조기 발견 중심으로 사업을 강화할 계획이다.
배광식 북구청장은 “치매에 대한 편견을 줄이고, 함께 돌보는 지역 공동체를 만들기 위해 앞으로도 주민 참여를 적극 확대하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Lee Young-sook, Director of the Buk-gu Public Health Center, stated, "It is very meaningful that the 12 Dementia-Friendly Villages have been designated as excellent for four consecutive years," adding, "We will strive even harder to create a dementia-friendly environment so that dementia patients and their families can live safely without becoming isolated within the community."
The Buk-gu Dementia Care Center plans to strengthen its programs by expanding dementia partner training linked to courses at resident self-governance centers and introducing visiting early screening services, focusing on prevention and early detection.
Buk-gu Mayor Bae Gwang-sik stated, "We will continue to actively expand resident participation to reduce prejudice against dementia and build a community that cares together."
