성주군은 지난 3월 28일 성주참외 체험형 테마공원 내 성주사람들이야기관에서 ‘다함께 성주로! 가족愛 성주’ 체험 프로그램을 시작했다고 밝혔다.
이번 프로그램은 성주의 자연환경과 참외를 중심으로 한 농업, 역사문화를 주제로 다양한 체험 기회를 제공해 가족 간 유대감을 높이고 지역의 매력을 알리기 위해 기획됐다.
첫 회차로 진행된 ‘건강 버섯 햄버거 만들기’ 체험은 접수 시작과 동시에 정원 25명이 모두 마감되는 등 큰 호응을 얻으며 성공적인 출발을 알렸다.
올해 프로그램은 3월 28일부터 10월 24일까지 총 14회에 걸쳐 운영되며, ▲버섯 햄버거 만들기·꼬마 농부 텃밭 만들기 등 농업·참외 분야 ▲다육정원·스칸디아모스 액자 제작, 우드버닝 체험 등 자연환경 분야 ▲금제 허리띠·활 만들기, 한글 도어벨 제작 등 역사문화 분야로 구성된다.
특히 올해는 자연환경 체험을 테마공원 내 식물원인 ‘원예힐링관’에서 진행해 참여자들에게 보다 생생한 체험 기회를 제공할 예정이다. 또한 지역 농가 대표들이 직접 강사로 참여해 지역 홍보와 농가 소득 증대에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
프로그램에 참여한 한 가족은 “아이와 함께 음식을 만들며 의미 있는 시간을 보냈고, 성주의 역사와 농업을 재미있게 배울 수 있어 유익했다”고 소감을 전했다.
성주군 관계자는 “참여 가족들의 의견을 적극 반영해 만족도 높은 프로그램을 지속 발굴하겠다”며 “성주참외 체험형 테마공원이 다시 찾고 싶은 지역 명소로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

Seongju County announced that it launched the ‘Together to Seongju! Family Love Seongju’ experience program on March 28 at the Seongju People’s Story Hall within the Seongju Korean Melon Experiential Theme Park.
This program was designed to strengthen family bonds and promote the region’s attractions by providing diverse hands-on opportunities centered on Seongju’s natural environment, agriculture (including Korean melons), and historical culture.
The first session, the ‘Making Healthy Mushroom Hamburgers,’ received an enthusiastic response, with all 25 spots fully booked as soon as registration opened, marking a successful start. This year's program will run for a total of 14 sessions from March 28 to October 24, and consists of three categories: agriculture and Korean melons, including making mushroom hamburgers and creating "little farmer" vegetable gardens; nature and environment, featuring succulent gardens, Scandia moss picture frame making, and wood burning experiences; and history and culture, such as making gold belts and bows, and crafting Hangeul doorbells.
In particular, this year, the nature and environment experiences will be held at the "Horticultural Healing Hall," a botanical garden within the theme park, to provide participants with a more vivid and immersive experience. Furthermore, local farm representatives will participate directly as instructors, which is expected to contribute to promoting the region and increasing farm income.
One family participating in the program shared their thoughts, saying, "We spent meaningful time making food with our child, and it was informative to learn about Seongju's history and agriculture in a fun way."
An official from Seongju County stated, "We will continue to develop highly satisfying programs by actively reflecting the opinions of participating families," adding, "We will strive to establish the Seongju Korean Melon Experience Theme Park as a local attraction that people want to visit again." Meanwhile, the program is open to families with children aged 5 to 18 and accepts 25 participants per session on a first-come, first-served basis.
