군은 지난 30일 군청 소회의실에서 2026년도 증평군 유해야생동물피해방지단 위촉식을 개최했다.
이번 피해방지단은 공개모집을 통해 선발된 수렵인 8명과 남획감시단 2명 등 총 10명으로 구성됐다.
이들은 농작물 피해가 집중되는 시기를 고려해 4월부터 11월까지 약 8개월 동안 활동하며 유해야생동물로 인한 농가 피해 최소화에 나설 예정이다.
농작물 피해를 입은 경작인이 군에 신고하면 피해방지단이 현장에 출동해 포획 활동을 실시하게 된다.
이를 통해 멧돼지 등 유해야생동물로 인한 농작물 피해를 신속히 대응하고 농가의 안정적인 영농 환경을 지원할 계획이다.
군은 위촉식 이후 피해방지단을 대상으로 포획활동 요령과 유의사항, 총기 안전수칙 등에 대한 교육도 함께 진행했다.
군 관계자는 “유해야생동물로 인한 농작물 피해를 줄이기 위해 체계적인 구제 활동이 필요하다”며 “주민 안전을 최우선으로 하면서 사람과 자연이 공존할 수 있는 환경 조성에도 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
