국민의힘 대구시당은 4월 1일 오전 대구시당 3층 회의실에서 ‘대구시장 경선 후보자 공정경선 협약식’을 개최했다. 이날 행사에는 이인선 시당위원장을 비롯해 경선 후보들과 지역 국회의원들이 참석했다.
이인선 위원장은 “이번 경선은 단순한 후보 선출이 아니라 대구의 미래를 결정하는 과정”이라며 “공정하고 품격 있는 경쟁으로 시민의 신뢰를 얻어야 한다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “결과에 승복하고 하나의 팀으로 나아가야 한다”며 단일대오와 네거티브 없는 정책 경쟁을 강조했다.

주 의원은 “대구·경북이 늘 공천 파동의 중심에 서는 현실이 안타깝다”며 “당헌·당규에 따른 공정하고 민주적인 공천과 경선만이 승리로 가는 길”이라고 말했다. 이어 “시민의 주권과 당원의 권리가 훼손되지 않는 경선이 돼야 한다”고 강조했다.
후보들도 공정경선과 단합을 공통적으로 내세웠다. 유영하 후보는 “네거티브나 인신공격 없이 정책과 비전으로 평가받겠다”고 밝혔고, 윤재옥 후보는 “대구 선거가 전국 선거에 미치는 영향을 고려해 품격 있는 경선을 치러야 한다”고 말했다.
이재만 후보는 “시민의 마음을 되돌릴 수 있는 변화가 필요하다”고 했으며, 최은석 후보는 “경선 이후 하나로 뭉쳐 본선 승리를 이루겠다”고 했다.
추경호 후보 역시 “공정한 경쟁을 통해 시민과 당원의 선택을 받겠다”고 강조했다. 홍석준 후보는 “그동안 공천을 둘러싼 잡음으로 시민 기대에 미치지 못한 점을 반성한다”며 “당이 자유민주주의 가치를 지키는 정당으로서 다시 신뢰를 회복해야 한다”고 말했다. 이어 “경선 과정에서도 책임 있는 모습이 필요하다”고 강조했다.
