한국도로교통공단이 행정안전부의 2025년 공공데이터 제공 운영 실태평가와 데이터기반행정 실태점검에서 모두 최고 등급인 ‘매우 우수’를 받았다. 두 평가를 함께 실시한 전체 684개 기관 가운데 두 부문 모두에서 최고 등급을 받은 곳은 도로교통공단을 포함해 18개 기관뿐이다.
공공데이터 제공 운영 실태평가는 공공데이터 개방·활용, 데이터 품질, 관리체계 등 3개 영역 10개 지표를 중심으로 이뤄졌고, 데이터기반행정 실태점검은 데이터 분석·활용, 데이터 공유, 관리체계 등 3개 영역 17개 지표를 토대로 평가가 진행됐다. 두 평가는 모두 중앙행정기관과 지방자치단체, 공공기관을 포함한 684개 기관을 대상으로 실시됐으며, 결과는 5단계 등급으로 구분됐다.
도로교통공단은 공공데이터 개방률을 높이고 데이터 수정·검증을 통해 오류율을 줄인 점에서 좋은 평가를 받았다. 개인정보 보호와 활용도 제고를 함께 고려해 합성데이터를 생성·개방한 점도 평가에 반영됐다.
공단은 내부 행정체계에도 인공지능과 데이터 활용 기반을 확대해 왔다. 지난해 AI디지털본부를 신설했고, AI·데이터·디지털 서비스를 도입하는 한편 직원 역량 수준에 맞춘 교육 체계도 손질했다. 정부의 AI 정책 기조에 맞춰 조직과 실무를 함께 정비한 점이 이번 평가 결과로 이어졌다는 게 공단의 설명이다.
