몰타에서의 이동은 사실상 택시나 버스다.

이런 환경에서 버스를 자발적으로 이용하고 싶어질 리 없다.
더 아이러니한 것은, 대중교통이 전면 무료인 룩셈부르크에서는
오히려 훨씬 높은 시민 의식이 유지된다는 점이다.
비용이 아니라 의식의 문제라는 사실이 이보다 더 명확할 수 있을까.
몰타의 버스는 단순한 교통수단을 넘어,
공공성의 붕괴가 어떻게 일상 속 불편으로 이어지는지를 보여주는 사례다.

What makes this even more ironic is that in Luxembourg—
where public transport is entirely free—
The level of civic awareness and consideration is significantly higher.
If anything, this contrast makes one point unmistakably clear:
The issue is not about cost, but about culture.
Malta’s buses are not merely a mode of transport;
They are a daily reminder of how the erosion of public-mindedness
translates directly into everyday discomfort.
