횡성군은 이 기간 동안 강풍과 건조한 날씨로 인해 작은 불씨도 대형 산불로 확산될 위험이 매우 크다고 판단, ‘청명·한식 산불방지 특별대책’을 수립하고 총력 대응에 나선다고 밝혔다.
최근 10년간 강원도 내 산불 통계에 따르면, 청명·한식 기간 발생한 산불 건수는 전체의 6%에 불과하지만, 피해 면적은 무려 28%를 차지할 정도로 피해 규모가 압도적인 것으로 나타났다.

이에 따라 군은 산불재난 국가위기경보 ‘경계’ 발령에 발맞춰 산불방지대책본부 운영을 대폭 강화한다. 특히 청명·한식 당일에는 위기경보 ‘심각’ 단계를 적용해 본청 산불방지대책본부 인력의 절반 이상을 비상근무에 투입하고 24시간 빈틈없는 모니터링 체계를 가동한다.
